We must be careful not to stir up discontent; discontent destroyed them. These are all warning markers -DANGER! -in our history books, written down so that we don't repeat their mistakes. Our positions in the story are parallel -they at the beginning, we at the end-and we are just as capable of messing it up as they were. Don't be so naive and self-confident. You're not exempt; you could fall flat on your face as easily as anyone else. Self-confidence is useless; cultivate GOD-confidence.” When you are immersed in GOD’s Love, as the beautiful old song goes, “things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of GOD’s Glory and Grace.” All you need to remember is that GOD will never let you down; He’ll never let you be pushed past your limit...He’ll always be there to help you come through it. You have more stamina and grit than you realize, and with GOD’s Word in your heart, you are growing more confident each day of His everlasting Presence in your life. You don’t have to dissect and scrutinize every action to see if it passes GOD’s microscope. He has you constantly in mind of blessing and enriching your life. As we get over “self” we see that our foremost efforts should be to help others live well. It’s the “loving others” that counts, not looking out for ourselves and looking at our own flaws and mismanagement. GOD sees you righteous in your LORD JESUS Christ. What an absolute blessing to know that starting in this New Year 2026!! Paul continues in I Corinthians 10:29, by saying, “Except for these special cases, I'm not going to walk around on eggshells worrying about what small-minded people might say; I'm going to stride free and easy, knowing what our large-minded Master has already said. If I eat what is served to me, grateful to GOD for what is on the table, how can I worry about what someone will say? I thanked GOD for it and He blessed it!” I Timothy 4:4-5, tells us that, as we thank GOD with a grateful heart for what He’s done for us, He sanctifies everything we do and every-thing we eat, “For everything created by GOD is good, and nothing is to be rejected, if it is received with gratitude, for it is sanctified by means of the WORD of GOD and Prayer.” Our daily, thankful prayers do so much in GOD sanctifying everything we touch and everything we say to others. Remember to thank Him for your food when you’re at a restaurant. I’ve actually had people watching, pay for my meal, as I have paid for those I’ve seen blessing their food. And let’s do our best to be considerate of everyone's feelings in all these matters. It is a great start to a wonderful year of seeing dreams fulfilled and harvests coming in for those of you who have given into the Kingdom of GOD! Savannah, Georgia San Antonio River Walk2 3 As we fully embrace this New Year, we set our sights on remaining faithful in the work to which GOD has called us. Thank you for being a part of what happens in Peru through the Home of Refuge. I know there is a day coming when GOD will separate the nations before Him -the sheep on His right hand, and those He refers to as “goats” on His left. The ones on His right will enter into His rest, while the ones on His left will enter into eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. As I look at that portion of Scripture, I can see that each person’s eternal dwelling is a result of how their love for GOD (or lack thereof) played out in their life. In a sense, it could be described as simply, “Those who remembered the poor and weak...the street people of this world.” JESUS tells us we do it unto Him whenever we do it unto the least of His brethren. Rosa and I want to Thank You for keeping in focus what matters most in life and for sowing generously into the future...and for all eternity! President Abraham Lincoln’s birthday is February 12th. President George Washington’s birthday is February 16th...and last year, Ameri- cans celebrated these two giants of leadership and faith on February 17th. Are you confused? Marketers began advertising “President’s Day” sales and by the mid-1980s, many Americans no longer thought of the federal holiday in February as Washington’s Birthday or Lin- coln’s birthday, but rather as President’s Day. By the early 2000s, roughly half of the states had changed the holiday’s name to Presi- dent’s Day on their official calendars. (Notably, the federal government still lists the holiday as Washington’s Birthday). President’s Day is celebrated on the third Monday in February; it was observed on February 17th in 2025 and will be observed on February 16th in 2026. So, you see how confusing honoring our presidents is. President’s Day is the third Monday of the month of February...President’s Day changes every year. Posing a Question: If your birthday was changed every year because your family wanted to have your birth- day on the day of the week that you were born, wouldn’t it be confusing and upsetting to you and your friends every year, jumping through the hoops because of family wishes. And what if your mother and father thought it would be more convenient and less confusing to bunch all the children’s birthdays into one day...say August 3rd? How would you feel about not having a special day of your own? I believe that the greatness of the individual Presidents gets muddled in all the government mandates. Maybe the government intended for the importance of these birthdays to become less important as we put them all together into one day...just think about it. And in the meantime, let’s honor Lincoln on his birthday (Feb. 12) and Washington on his birthday (Feb. 16). WE love YOU, Tony and Rosa -Home of Refuge, Peru We were sitting on a hill, watching a shepherd tend his flock. “The shepherd is their provider,” said the teacher, “their leader and their protection from predators. But what if the shepherd was struck down? Or what if the sheep departed from the shepherd? What would happen?” “The flock would be scattered,” I replied. “They would wander the wilderness with no protection; they would be attacked and devoured!” “That’s people’s history, more than any other, the manifestation of the phenomenon, that very picture -a flock that was once together, then scattered throughout the world as sheep without their shepherd, wandering the earth with no one to protect them. What people more than any other have dwelt on this planet as a shepherdless flock?” “The Children of Israel...the Jewish people, more than any other.” “Who then, is the missing shepherd of whom their wanderings and shepherdlessness bear witness?” “The Messiah, the protector of Israel, Yeshua...JESUS!” “And Who is it that said to them, ‘I AM the Good Shepherd?’ And Who is it that happens to be the same One Who was struck down in their midst and from Whom they have been separated? And how long have they been departed from Him? Two thousand years. And how long has it been that they’ve wandered the earth and borne the signs of shepherdlessness? The same two thousand years. It is because He is the true Shepherd, their Protector, their Defense, their Provider and their Keeper...the MESSIAH. If we live without Him, we end up wandering this life, lost, unprotected and without hope and we bear the signs of shepherdlessness. It is foretold that in the end, the people of Israel will return to their Shepherd. He will bind up their brokenness, heal their wounds, and keep them as a shepherd keeps his flock. And so will each of us be gathered and loved in the Shepherd’s arms!” Historians believe Valentine’s Day has roots in the ancient Roman festival of love called Lu- percalia, which celebrated the coming of spring and fertility. As Christianity spread, pagan ritu- als fell out of favor. At the end of the 5th century AD, Pope Gelasius I outlawed Lupercalia and . implemented St. Valentine's Day, a holy feast day, to replace it. Regardless, the Christian holiday eventually overtook the riotous Lupercalia, which was filled with raucous celebration. St. Valentine, the patron saint of lovers, loved with the love of GOD, and blessed us with a “holy day” where we can bless those we love. There are various legends about this Christian figure named Valentine or Valentinus who was martyred on February 14 in the 3rd century AD. In one story, St. Valentine was a Roman priest and physician who refused to convert to paganism and was executed by Emperor Claudius II in about 270 AD. Prior to his execution, he miraculously healed the daughter of his jailer. As the legend goes, he then fell in love with the daughter and, on the day of his execution, wrote her a letter signed "from your Valentine." Cupid has been a symbol that has accompanied Valentine’s Day. Known as theRoman god of love, Cupid has origins rooted in ancient Greek mythology that date back thousands of years. InGreek mythology,Eros, the god of love and desire, played a similar role. Over time, the Romans adopted and adapted Eros’s image, renaming himCupidand emphasizing his playful, mischievous nature. You can find him depicted as a young, winged boy armed with a bow and arrows, ready to strike hearts with love. His stories often involvethemes of attraction, longing, and the unpredictable nature of love itself. These mythological roots give Cupid a timeless, universal appeal, making him an enduring symbol of roman- tic affection.
