Shortly after Derin and Barbara Carmack were married, they began holding meetings in hotel conference rooms. Derin had been on TV (P.T.L) in the 1980s with “Derin’s Coffee Shop,” and his program was broadcast on 110 stations across the U.S.
As a result of a dynamic deliverance from the spirit of fear in 1978, Derin began praying for people in his home and at restaurants, not knowing that God would be leading him into full-time ministry of healing and deliverance. With a special anointing from God, Derin had been instrumental in praying for people’s broken hearts and seeing them set free through the power of the Holy Spirit.
He has made the Body of Christ strong by his supernatural teaching of such scriptures as Isaiah 54:17, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper and every tongue that accuses you in judgment, you will condemn, for this is the heritage of the servants of the LORD!” He also taught that the Believer to be strong in the Word, “…casting not away my confidence for it has a great reward!” (Hebrews 10:35)
Soon after moving to Denver, Derin and Barbara began FIRE & REIGN MINISTRY, with specific direction from the Lord. FIRE signified the fire of the Holy Spirit in the lives of God’s people on this earth, while REIGN represented the reign of God’s people—a Kingdom of Priests as described in Revelation 1:6:
“And He has made us to be a Kingdom of priests to His God and Father; to Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever!”

Derin and Barbara launched a live call-in talk radio show in 1995 called “Derin In Denver.” Soon after, they partnered with Crawford Broadcasting and 670 KLTT Radio, renaming the show “Derin LIVE! In Denver.” For 14 years, they taught the Word of God and prayed for people’s needs.
Derin and Barbara taught that there is no situation too difficult for God. He wants His children to be blessed and to enjoy an abundant life in Jesus Christ. Derin carried a boldness and confidence in God’s authority and ability, with a supernatural anointing to pray for healing and deliverance.
Derin also taught that believers should be inner-directed, not outer-directed or ruled by the flesh. One of his favorite verses expressing this truth was Romans 8:6:
“The mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace.”
A believer’s life should be governed by a spirit of peace.
On August 5, 2009, Derin went to be with the Lord, and a large vacuum resulted from his absence. But Barbara has continued the daily radio show, faithfully teaching the Word of God. The name of the half-hour program has since been changed to “Call to Freedom.”
