Mark 11:22-24 Jesus replied, “Have faith in GOD [constantly]. 23 I assure you and most solemnly say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea!’ and does not doubt in his heart [in GOD’s unlimited power], but believes [be in agreement] that what he says is going to take place, it will be done for him [in accordance with GOD’s will]. 24 For this reason I am telling you, whatever things you ask for in prayer [in accordance with GOD’s will], believe [with confident trust and agreement] that you have received them, and they will be given to you.
Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with CHRIST and it is no longer I who live but CHRIST Who lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh (is by HIS faith in me)…. you no longer need to appear righteous, you no longer need others to have a good opinion of you, you no longer need to impress GOD because it is CHRIST in you – and HE has a good opinion of you!
Do you have a good opinion of HIM?
Emunah is the Hebrew word for faith. (Have faith in GOD!) And the root word is Amen. We use the word Amen at the end of our prayers, but do we know what it means? Amen means “I agree”, “so be it”, “let it be so” – and it implies action. When you say “Amen”, it means you will act like what you are agreeing with.
CHRIST’s faith in me… think about that. HE is in agreement with the Father that this mess of a human being is going to be perfected, completed, accomplished, whole, and beautiful – they have agreement with each other. This is how They “pray”. Are we agreeing with Them?
To be in agreement with someone, you have to trust them, right? While teaching my kids how to drive, they didn’t always have the best ideas (sometimes they have no ideas – no clue) on how to get us from point A to point B – I had a trust issue with them and would always give directions to keep us on course. And they trusted me. So they acted like they trusted by following my instruction.
But when I tried to give my husband directions on how to drive (because I thought I had good ideas on how to get us there quickly), he didn’t trust me as much as he trusted himself, so he would take his own route.
By not trusting each other, we ruin relationship. But what is at the root of not trusting? Did you see it? “HOW to get us there QUICKLY.” The HOW and the WHEN. We think we have better plans, better paths, better routes, we want to get it done quickly and efficiently…. this ruins relationship.
We forget that the whole goal is relationship. We are in such a hurry all the time – we forget to Raphah – relax! And we have the BEST reason to relax!! GOD’s faith is in us AND HE has faith in us!!!
It’s 2 different things – HIS own faith has been imparted to us. Not only that, HE has faith in our finished product!! Not because we can make it happen, or that we will make it happen – HE will make it happen!! HE’s GOD!!!
We can’t know the timing that would be best, and we can’t know the best path – HE does! And if you don’t like where you are in life right now, that is one way to tell that you are not in agreement with HIM. HE has asked us to trust that HE will work EVERYTHING – even what we think are accidents and mistakes – HE will work it ALL for good. Romans 8:28
Will you choose to believe that today?
Maybe it’s because we haven’t learned to pray as we ought to. Our prayers sound more like a child’s Christmas wish list. But if we pray according to what HE already spoke, that adds our agreement to HIS already established Truth. Amen. We speak and act like we are in agreement!
When you go to a restaurant to order food and they tell you, “We’ll get that right out to you,” you don’t get up and walk out on them before receiving your food. You trust that what they said will happen, and you act like it by waiting for it. Do you sit at the table asking over and over again for the food? Do you wring your hands with worry, doubting that the food will ever come? No – you know it will be there soon – you wait patiently and enjoy conversation – you act like you agree that the food will get to you.
Some of us have more faith in restaurants and waiters than we do in GOD. So find scripture you can agree with – memorize it – and start acting like you agree with it. Keep a good opinion of GOD’s ability and HIS timing! Relax! GOD’s got this! AMEN!
